Loiriston Mear of Baillieswells (Merry) was
born on the twenty second of January 1984 and lived for seventeen
years. She was bred by Dr Ron Wheatley and was by Ch. Ashbrae Jaffa
out of Loiriston Jet. She started her show career by going Best
of Breed at the Turriff Show in Scotland at just six months old.
When only seven months she was best puppy in show and Reserve
Best in Show at the Scottish Border Terrier Club's Show judged
by the
late George Robson (Digbrack), and a few weeks later was Best
Puppy in Show at an all breeds show judged by the late Catherine
Sutton.
Catherine Sutton awarded her the Bitch Reserve CC at the East
of England Show the next year. She was Best Puppy in Breed at Crufts
in 1983 judged by Walter Gardner (Maxton), and Best in Show at
the Border Terrier Club of Scotland’s Show in January 1985,
judged by Kathy Wilkinson (Otterkin). She obtained her Junior Warrant
in July 1985
Merry had four litters of puppies, twenty one puppies in all.
By Ch. Bannerdown Cavalier, she produced Baillieswells Raspberry
of Castleholme, who was awarded one CC, and by Baillieswells Knockando,
UK. Swedish and Norwegian Champion Baillieswells Auchentoshan.
